Community Supported Agriculture
It is a partnership between the grower and the consumer. The farmer receives a set fee from the consumer, prior to the start of the season and in return, the consumer receives shares, in the form of produce, from the farms bounty each week during the productive season.
In this way, the consumer helps cover the costs of the farm operation and provides the grower with a guaranteed sale and in turn receives a variety of fresh, organic, locally grown food that is superior in both taste and nutrition. Eating local supports the community and the environment by reducing food miles.
How It Works At Limbert Mountain Farm
We are offering shares to just 10 couples for the 2010 season. Each couple will receive a box of various vegetables and fruits in season. The seasons will be divided into two 12 week periods. Early summer - approximately mid May until mid July and Later Summer - approximately mid July until mid October. Pick up will be at our farm each Friday.
In addition, every week, the share holders will receive a list of other seasonal products available such as preserves, pesto, tea, eggs, chicken, salad dressing, bread, etc that can be added to their box for an additional cost. Information on preparing the produce and recipes will also be included. The partners are welcome to visit and see how their food is being produced.
The cost per week is $30. To us, LOCAL FOOD JUST MAKES SENSE!
The first payment is due March 4th (50% of the cost for the Early Summer season = $180. The remaining $180 is due with the first food pick up, approximately mid May). Payment can be made in person using cash, debit, Visa MC or cheque or via phone or email using Visa or MC. There are only 10 shares available for 2010.
